The wedding

These photos will show you what they wear and what they do.

The first picture is the bride’s wedding skirt.
The next two pictures are the wedding procession ( Baraat) , when the groom rides on a horse ( or a car) to the bride’s place. The guests attending the wedding from the groom’s side usually dance on the street in front of the groom to celebrate.
The last pictures are from the wedding ceremony which is done by a priest and takes 2-3 hours. The groom gives the bride a special necklace ( called mangalsutra), and puts a red powder ( called sindoor) on her head.

The Taj Mahal

If you are wondering  what Taj Mahal means- Taj means crown and mahal means palace , making it crown palace. This week I went to the Taj Mahal it is a tomb for Mumtaz Mahal , who was the beloved wife of Emperor Shajahan ( of the Mughal dynasty) . It was built in the seventeenth century. It took 22 years to build (even more than the the state capitol).  It is also the tallest monument in Agra.

Here are some pictures of me and the Taj Mahal.

Elephants

We painted ,rode and fed elephants.
We fed the elephants bananas. He picks it up in his trunk with this tiny slot and then shoves the whole thing in his mouth.
My dad gave the elephant some money in it’s trunk and handed up to the person who gave us the ride it was very cool.

Welcome to the pink city

We went to a fort on a mountain.
Tons of traffic and we were not even in the city.
Not in city

I’m in Jaipur

Now I am in Jaipur and I was staying in a guest house which is like a house but 3 different families can live there.
This is the type of thing they use  to pour water in Jaipur.
It is burning hot in Jaipur because it is in the dessert and they most commonly drink masala chai (chai with masala).
